Step 2: Get Yourself a Fiddle

Fun fact: A fiddle and a violin are the exact same instrument.

Don't have one yet? No problem! We recommend renting from a local violin shop (also called a luthier). Renting is an affordable way to get started without making a big investment.

Once you're enrolled and have your fiddle, you're ready to go.

Laurel Morgan founded Drunken Fiddles in 2015 with just five students gathered in her living room. What began as a small experiment has grown into a thriving community of adult musicians, with workshops in cities across the United States and students learning online from all over.

Over the past decade, Laurel has dedicated her professional life to understanding how adults learn music—and how to make the process approachable, rewarding, and genuinely fun.

She has guided hundreds of adults through the transformative experience of learning an instrument, helping them move beyond self-doubt and discover musical abilities they never knew they had.

Laurel brings warmth, humor, patience, and encouragement to every lesson. She believes that learning an instrument shouldn't feel intimidating—it should feel like an adventure.
